We represent a Non-Governmental Organization and a Not-for-Profit Institution, Afro City Marathon Initiative (“City Marathon”), the Organizers of the Osogbo City Half-Marathon.
Afro City Marathon Initiative (‘City Marathon”) is registered and regulated in accordance with all extant laws and regulations in Nigeria. We are focused and dedicated to our core Mandates of Promoting and Developing Athletics in the Nigerian Sporting Ecosystems. We deliver on our Mandates by organizing Annual National Marathon for young people and City Dwellers in all the Nigeria’s six (6) Geopolitical Zones and Cities. Our next City Marathon is scheduled to take place in the South-Western State of Osun, tagged, “Osogbo City Half-Marathon” slated for Saturday, October 18th 2025.
Our Non-Government Organization is being led by Coach Eric Adeyemo, a notable Olympic Athlete and Men’s & Women’s Track and Field Head Coach of Columbia College, South Carolina, USA.

Advisory Board
Chief Tony Osheku is a renowned Track & Field Coach and administrator of international repute. His impressive coaching career includes stints as coach at the Commonwealth Games Birmingham 2022, coach/manager to Olympic Silver medalist Chief Mrs. Falilat Ogunkoya, and Head Coach of the Libya Athletics Team. Chief Osheku has also been part of the national coaching crew to several major international competitions, including the Atlanta and Sydney Olympics, and seven World Championships. Currently, he serves as the Head Coach of Osheku Athletics Academy, where he grooms future champions to represent Nigeria.
Livinus is a highly experienced World Athletics Technical Official with over three decades of experience in athletics officiating. He is a seasoned meet organizer and sports consultant, having served in various capacities, including Competition Secretary at the African Athletics Championship in Asaba 2018 and Referee at the Lagos Access Bank Marathon since 2016. Osaze has also played key roles in organizing several major road races in Nigeria, including the Coal City Kids Marathon and the Ijesa Grand Marathon. He is a member of several prestigious associations, including AIMS and NAATO.
Idowu was born in Osogbo in Osun State. He attended the prestigious St Charles’ Grammar School, Osogbo, and Ilesa Grammar School, where he did his WASCE and HSC respectively.
In search of more knowledge, he proceeded to the Premier University of Ibadan, where he did his first and second degrees and graduated in 1985 and 1989, in Physical & Health Education and MSc. in Archival & Information Science respectively.
Professionally, a qualified Librarian with many years of experience in further education, but he is also a man of many parts. He has a stint in marketing, Facilities Management as well as Logistics.
He is happily married with children and lives in the UK. In his spare time, he plays chess, watches football, and loves reading. He also likes keeping fit as part of his hobbies.
